-The CBRN Conference for the Experts-
This year CBMTS IX, once again hosted by SPIEZ LABORATORY, will be held from May 7th to May 9th. The conference has been designed to address new threats confronting our community and will dedicate time to hosting discussion with some of the world’s leading authorities. For the first time participants will have the option to attend the whole conference or individual days of interest.
The first day will be a workshop titled “The Insider Threat” and will focus on the constant threat that individuals or groups could use their work performed in critical research facilities against civilian populations. Discussions will be led by members of the “Amerithrax Expert Behavioral Analysis Panel,” and will include an in-depth analysis of the case and subsequent research, which has led to recommendations for combating internal threats.
The second day, “Emerging Issues”, will focus on scientific briefings using the traditional CBMTS format. These briefings will present new research, innovations, and concepts by scientists representing private and public labs from around the world.
The final day will be a set of briefings titled “Consequence Management” that will culminate in a joint exercise showcasing the NATO and Swiss consequence management capability. The US 773rd Civil Support Team (CST), based in Europe, in collaboration with the Spiez Emergency Response Team will provide a live field demonstration. During the conference participants will be provided the opportunity to tour SPIEZ LABORATORY, observe its BSL4 facility and tour the CST Mobile lab.
